You´re the one who...

In your eyes I see our present, our future, our past,
by the way you look at me I know we´ll last.
I hope that one day you´ll come to realize how perfect you are
when seen through your eyes.

and focus on us being together
never be apart.

if I had to resign to someone I want you to be by my side forever.
It seemed like a lie when our love began.
I feel as eternal as water and air.



I´m the author of this poem, I wrote it in class because we had to make a homework for the literature class.

Irony

As we could realise, the song from Alanis Morrissette "Ironic", have many ironies. I´ll try to identified all as I can.
First of all, I would like to present, the one that was the most ironic,
"Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
Well isn't this nice..."
From my point of view it is the most impactant phrase, becuase it´s like the contrary of what you expected, the first time you flew, the plain crashed.It is like if all wrong happened in your life. This is a situational irony.
"An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day"
It´s a situational irony, because nobody will thought that the poor old man would died the next day. And also it could be dramatical because maybe he thought that he would be alive a long time, but we really know that he was old and maybe with this unexpected surprise,and all the years come up.

"It's like rain on your wedding day" it´s a situational irony, cause nobody will thought that in such a special moment as your wedding it will rain.

"It's a free ride when you've already paid"also it´s a situational irony because you don´t expect that when you have already paid a ride, now it´s free.

"A traffic jam when you're already late"it´s a situational irony because you´re late and besides that you get tracked in a traffic jam.

"It's meeting the man of my dreams
and then meeting his beautiful wife"  I think that this phrase could be dramatical irony, because we could realise that this man could have a wife because he is the one of your dream, however the girl doesn´t because when he meets his beautiful wife she´s dissapointed.

I think that when the authors of this songs writes this sort of things, is because they are trying to said something about society, maybe their personal situation or as a las chance the things that nobody wants to happened to them.  This accumulation of ironies could it be the anger of the author of his life, and all the things she had to passed throw that she wouldn´t expect to. The sad faces of life.

"How does it make you feel?"

First of all, I’ll talk about a video called “How does it make you feel” by Air.

Broadly speaking, this video is a little bit complex to interpret, because as a first impression, the images, animals, etc have almost nothing to do with what the lyrics of the song say, but seeing it more than once, I could get to the conclusion that the animals, people and objects are a reflexion of the feelings of the man. Talking about the feelings, I’m referring what he feels for this girl.

There is a connection between the images and the lyrics of the song, because throw the song we could see that that girl is like disarming, and when the man starts saying good things to her, the parts of her body start appearing, however when he confessed what he really think, the things start to broke up, began to be exploited as if he as once and for all he told what he feels.

How does it make me feel? From my point of view, this song is about two people of different worlds, and the robotic voices you could hear along the song are a play on that, like if one was a robot and the other one was a normal person. The man is like a little bit disastrous because he smokes, and he fall in love with an innocent girl. So she says that he have to stop smoking. 

The Signalman

The story started with the signalman seeing a first appearance.
He told this to the narrator.
Every time a spectre appears also a death took place.

Seeing a second appearance was surprising. This woman was crying and she didn´t talk.
Inmediatly, a woman died on a train.
Ghosts appear agrain, for a third time.
Naturally an accident happen, however, he was the protagonist.
Astonished was the narrator when he saw the crowd.
Later on, he got closer to the accident and the signalman was the one dead.
Meanwhile, he though how the signalman had died, because he was very carefull with this job.
Actually, we could see that the same words the narrator uses at the beginning of the story, were used three three times.
Nobody could believe what had happened.

"Secrets".

A story called “Secrets”, written in 1977 by Bernard MacLaverty, took place in an old house, where a young boy went to visit his Great Aunt, because she was on her deathbed. Those news took him by surprise, while he was studying for “A” levels exams at his girlfriend’s house. He started remembering the old days with his Aunt. Like when she read the stories to him, he remembered that his Great Aunt always told him that he was very inquisitive. From our point of view we could see that it is correct to say that he is an inquisitive boy, because he kept on asking questions about Iggy, Benignus and John.
He was a very sensitive person, this is shown in the last part of the story when he cried with his head down on his books, he was a boy that kept himself to himself:The Aunt wasn't the only one that had secrets. Among the story we could realise that both were reserved and didn’t want to show their deepest feelings.
In our opinion the best quote to describe this character is: “you are dirt, and always will be dirt, I shall remember this till the day I die” (page 295, line 28). This quote represents him because he took the letters of his Great Aunt without permission and also lied to her. Although he was feeling guilty, his Great Aunt didn’t forgive him.
  If we were supposed to compare this character with an animal, it will be a crow, because it has to do with his waiting for forgiveness until the moment she died. Generally the crows wait until their victim is dead as to fix the body. Related to the story, the boy waited until his Great Aunt was dead to have the reply of the argument.  

How to tell fortunes...

    To say how to tell fortunes, I based on a story we read at school, the name of this story  is "An Astrologer´s day".

The fortunes tellers have to have special qualities such as:

• Ask specific things that everyone pass through, for example problems with marriage, money and tangles of human ties. 
• Have a mysterious physical appearance as to attract people attention.
• Be a compelling person.
• Loosely speaking, using general statements.
